Who We Are

The PMSA – Presbyterian and Methodist Schools Association – owns and operates four outstanding Queensland schools – Brisbane Boys’ College, Clayfield College, Somerville House and Sunshine Coast Grammar School.

Established in 1918 to “establish and carry on schools where pupils may obtain a sound classical mathematical, scientific and general education”, the PMSA is a joint mission of the Uniting Church of Australia, Queensland Synod and the Presbyterian Church of Queensland.

One hundred years on, the PMSA is a financially strong, not-for-profit organisation that plays a vital role in setting the direction these outstanding schools and is the connecting link between the schools and the two churches.

Today through our schools, the PMSA has student enrolments of almost 5000 young Queenslanders and employs almost 1000 staff.

The PMSA is run by a Council (or Board) of up to 15 qualified volunteer Councillors (Directors). Up to six Councillors are each appointed by the Presbyterian Church and the Uniting Church and up to three are appointed by the PMSA Council.  The PMSA Council is supported by three specialist advisory committees, a School Council at each of the four schools and the PMSA corporate office.
